Malcolm X PTA meetings and school events calendar

PTA meeting dates, 2012-2013:

  • General Membership Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. in the MX Library
    (unless otherwise noted), on the third Tuesday of the month.
  • Schedule is subject to change with prior notice.
  • Executive Board Meetings take place the second Tuesday of each month.
    Anyone is welcome to attend. Contact PTA President Jila Abdolhosseini if interested at 665-9955.
  • Childcare is provided free of charge at all meetings, except when the whole family is invited to attend.
  • Spanish Translation is available at the first meeting. For all other meetings, translation can be arranged (into Spanish and into other languages as well). Please contact PTA President Jila Abdolhosseini at 665-9955 at least several days in advance of the meeting date, to arrange translation.

    • Sign up for the Malcolm X E-Tree to get meeting reminders.

    Walk-a-Thon
    Saturday, October 20, 2012
    10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Playground and around MX School Perimeter.
    Kids walk/run laps around the school, dance, hula hoop, and read, to raise money for our school.

    Family Heritage Potluck
    Friday evening, January 25, 2013
    6:15 - 8:00 pm, Cafeteria and Auditorium.
    Potluck dinner and international dance/music show, to celebrate the diversity of MX families and their heritages. Families please bring a dish (entree, salad, or dessert) that is part of your family history, along with a label that gives the name and ingredients.

    Silent Auction and Dance Party
    Saturday evening, February 9, 2013
    6:00 - 11:00 pm--for grown-ups only.
    Location: Uptown Body and Fender, 401 26th St., Oakland, CA 94612
    Come and dance the night away with your fellow MX parents, teachers, and staff, and bid on all sorts of goods and services! It's for a great cause--our school--and it's a ton of fun!

    Parents put together a delicious assortment of homemade entrees and treats to thank our wonderful principal, teachers and staff.

    Spring Fair and Raffle Drawing

    5:00 - 8:00 pm, Playground
    The spring raffle is one of our two biggest fund-raisers for the year! The raffle drawing is held on the evening of the Spring Fair, after all sorts of kid-oriented activities and games have taken place. Ends at 8:00.
